Shiona lives and still helps out at the family farm, moving to Scotston in 1976. She now has grandchildren attending Auchterhouse Primary School where she is a grandparent member of the school Eco Council.

Shiona was a member of the Community Council for many years before relinquishing the position on becoming an MSP. No longer in Parliament, she has happily become involved again in community life.

She is particularly interested in environmental issues, working to ensure the area and its surrounds is an attractive place in which to live.

Garry has lived in the village since 1975 and has been associated with the Community Council since it started in 1976. He is now retired after working in industry as a chartered mechanical engineer. His many interests in the community include the Church, the Hall, the Sidlaw Path Network and ACWAG when he is not playing golf, walking or gardening. He has four grown-up children.

John moved to Auchterhouse with his family in 2007. He owns a Group of companies providing services to the Scottish Construction sector.

Linda worked as a Clinical Psychologist with Tayside Health Board until her retirement in 2003. She has lived in the village since 1993.

Linda has an interest in planning and environmental issues and is a longstanding member of the local Tayside Friends of the Earth Group. Other interests include gardening, Tai Chi and singing.

Ian and his wife moved to Auchterhouse from Newport in 2006. Prior to moving to Newport he served on the Invergowrie and Kingoodie Community Council.

He works periodically offshore in the OIl and Gas industry. He also teaches remote medical care and has a property business. His interests include Golf, running, music and their ever increasing band of grandchildren.

I have lived in Auchterhouse since 2007 and was elected to the community council as a junior member in October 2014. I enjoyed my time in the community council and I am extremely keen to become an adult member. I enjoy making a contribution to the Auchterhouse community and find it rewarding.

Helen moved to the area in 1983. She is now retired after full time teaching in the local school for 14 years. She has 4 grown up children and 4 grand-children. In her spare time Helen is the booking officer for the Hall, a member of the Guild and the WRI.

Liam moved to the village in December 2012 with his wife Mhairi.

He works as a National Project Manager for the Scottish Association for Mental Health and when not working enjoys skiing, rugby, mountaineering, fly fishing and walking his collie Ned.


Gavin Christie

Gavin stood down from the Council in October after over 26 years of continuous service since May 1989. He is thanked for all the support he gave the Council and continues to give to the community.


Auchterhouse Community Council is entitled to 8 adult members and 3 youth members. Each Community Councillor covers a specified geographical area of the parish. You may occasionally be contacted by him/her and asked for your views or opinions. In turn, do not hesitate to contact them with any issues you wish to be raised at meetings.
