Auchterhouse Community

Auchterhouse Church

The original Church at Auchterhouse was built in 1630 with stone from earlier churches of 1275 and 1426. It was partially rebuilt in 1775. It is small but beautifully designed with some lovely stained glass windows. It has seen many changes over the centuries but with a dedicated group of elders who serve the whole community and a loyal congregation, we hope to have a Church in Auchterhouse ministering to the needs of us all for many years to come.

Auchterhouse Parish Church is currently discussing a union with Fowlis and Liff, Lundie and Muirhead. As part of the reorganisation of the churches in Tayside we are already in a grouping with Invergowrie, Longforgan, Inchture and Abernyte, as well as Fowlis and Liff, Muirhead and Lundie.

Meanwhile, Sunday services continue in our wee church at 10am for the first three Sundays in the month. The fourth or last Sunday in the month is a joint service either at Muirhead Church or Auchterhouse Church, held at 11am.  Rev Donna Hays, Minister at Muirhead Church is acting as locum for us so we are pleased to have the continuity of a familiar face most Sundays. A warm welcome is extended to new faces including children of all ages from babies upwards. We have a well-stocked activity space at the back of the Church.

Auchterhouse Church also has a number of other weekday activities. Details below.

The Guild meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month in Church at 2.30pm. A syllabus for the current session is available.

The Walk and Talk Group meets on the 2nd Thursday of  the month in Church at 1.15pm. The group divides into a more active walk around the perimeter of the village while the less active group walks round the village. Then all meet up for refreshments in the Church.

The Craft Morning is held on the 4th Friday in Church at 10am.  Classes in crochet, Christmas wreath making, paper sculptures and lampshade making have been some of the craft work undertaken.

Contact Elizabeth Millar for more details of any of these groups. All are welcome to join in.

The wider grouping of the churches along the Carse means we have the opportunity to share in the activities of the bigger churches such as silent auctions, ceilidhs and musical evenings.
