Sidlaw Path Network

Sidlaw Path Network is an organisation consisting of a group of local people who make it their business to identify and where possible improve existing paths in the area Birkhill/Muirhead/Fowlis/Piperdam/Dronley/Auchterhouse.

They produce a leaflet called "Get on Track around Muirhead" Which is available at various dispensers on the paths and in certain other locations in the area. For example, they were instrumental in acting together with Angus Council to turn parts of the old Dundee and Newtyle Railway between Rosemill and Auchterhouse Station into a viable footpath. They are always finding and in some cases creating walking links in the area, a recent one being the Sunnyblink to Bonnyton Road link which was recently opened. There are many paths around Muirhead and a recent project has been to install signposts to indicate the best routes for pupils at the local school.

The Sidlaw Path Network consists of a committee which normally meets monthly throughout most of the year to help keep paths in good condition and to find new ones, also to persuade local landowners to help make some of these paths easy of access. The committee normally holds an AGM every year at which hopefully retiring members will be replaced by new local people. We realise that this is a changing situation and new versions of the leaflets will eventually be produced which will include more of the paths around Auchterhouse.
